When Kriti was in Karnataka- Mysuru Travel.

Image
This is an account of how I made new friends, talked all kinds of things, shared sweat and sweets and ate my heart out in a land of foreign tongue and unknown faces. It is about the time I was in Karnataka. For some reason, I had associated a Kathakali face whenever I thought of Karnataka, some mix up with images in 4th standard GK book. But all of it was about to change.  As you might have recognised the pattern till now. Most of travel happen because of exams to be taken here and there. And thank the lords I don’t pass any so I get to travel some more. This one is when I went for SSB in Mysore. Before I went, I knew Mysore or Mysuru to be the cleanest city in India with a palace and that was all what idea I had about the place. The journey started of as a branching of my 3 weeks stay at Goa. Yes, I spent a summer in Goa not bragging or anything. It was not like I spent a summer in Germany, you guys! take a chill capsule. So I boarded a night bus from Pa naji to my...

Goa and Happy Indian Goddess

Image
I had a chance to spend a month in the most laid back, chilled out and happy place in the country - Goa. This is was a planned trip and involved gala time with family( duh! because going goa with friends just too mainstream) , great sibling talks and lots of time alone. Long walks, pouring rain and yummy in my tummy could always be taken for granted. Since it was a long trip, I will be covering it in subsequent posts. So stay in touch. Boarding the bus from Chandigarh, 6 of us comprising my parents, uncles and aunts over enthusiastic about the journey and filled upto brim with food reached Karnal. But as succumbed by habit we decided to hog on more and nullify with fresh juice at state government’s tourism hotel. Reaching Dilli the bus took us through major areas of Dilli giving us a peek into the houses of MPs and IAS and all important people, making me see these places with greedy eyes. Reaching Dilli airport, we were joined by one more uncle and aunt and whenever all of us ...

Amritsar to Ahmedabad~ Because I love Alliteration.

As you might have figured out by now that most of my travelling endeavours are a result of my choice to choose varied places as examination centres, this is one such too. To me, it is the most convenient reason I can give my parents to unleash the traveller in me and yet try not to be judged for just roaming around in a random city. This entry follows my route through the cheerfulness and joy of panj abs to the non violent and peaceful sabarmati. From the land of Bhagat to the soil of Gandhi. From the chaos to the quietness. And from activity to lassitude. I could only think of these many adjectives to point out that I went from Amritsar to Ahmedabad. To be more specific to Gandhinagar. My journey will trace from the capital of punjab to gujarat to bhaarat. I started from Amritsar, shared the train with two old uncles who got way too political and way too friendly first with each other and then with me, so much so that I got to know one’s daughter was cartoonist for India TV/ m...

With Golden Hearts to Golden Land

Image
What makes each breath worth living is the kind of air you breathe in. I had the opportunity to breathe in the vastness, the emptiness, the silence, the clarity and the royalty of Thar. Another seasoning which adds tickle and fragrance to each breathe is the people [read friends (read family)] in your vicinity. So I was humbled with chaos in the silence of Thar with my insane, fun, loud and happy Swad (read Bakra Union). Not everyone is fortunate enough to experience a journey with people who are so full of life , emotions, flamboyance and do not hesitate to show it off. I am lucky to have this journey which has taught me so much, brought to me so much and made me cherish people I am surrounded with. Much of Philosophy lets go straight to the point… The journey started with loading everything in the universe I could think of the desert might demand of me. But I was not packed enough so I took this little Pixie (read Roopnaz) to fulfil all my random tantrums. Food i...

IN THE LAND WHERE LOVE WAS DIVINE.

Image
The land of Krishna.. So this one is a long due. I had a chance to visit the city of divinity, city of love, city where the name krishna resonates in every nook and corner. The city which believes the completion of Krishna only with his Radha. The city which taught me so much about the power of feminism. The essence of softness with masculinity. The importance of Raas with Leela. The city of Vrindavan. So we took a night bus to the city of chants. With the break of first ray of sunshine, I opened my eyes to the early morning rituals of the city. It felt like I was transported to the time when our beloved Kanha trotted the same lanes I was traversing.Little Gwals chased the tyres with sticks. Cows had been replaced with tyres but the chuckles remained same. Old, head-shaved, pony tailed, vermilioned pandits and saints bathed in the holy tap waters with only one din on their lip “Radhe Krishna” and hurried to perform the morning pooja to please their beloved Krishna. ...

Illa - Maa the Legend

Image
(This was my entry for Write India- TOI for Amish Tripathy) Ofcourse I din't win. Anyways enjoy :) Close to the city of Paithan, in a small village called Sauviragram, which lay along the banks of the great river Godavari, lived a woman named Ilaa. Being cotton farmers, her family was well to do, but not among the richest in their area. It was the harvest season, and cotton had to be picked from the plants. The wholesalers and traders from Paithan would be arriving in just a few weeks, carrying gold and goods for barter. They would exchange what they carried for the cotton that the farmers grew. The bales of cotton had to be ready in time! Work was at its peak! But Ilaa was not to be found in the fields. She wasn't working. Instead, she was sitting by the banks of the great river Godavari. 'I am sick of this!' she grunted loudly. Their crop had failed. The lightening in the night burnt the entire harvest. It was a sign of the turn her fortune had taken...

Things I realised when I reached 21

Image
So here is an attempt for a listicle… I will try to be humorous and true. I shapat... Well as you know that I was born on this way back in the forth year of the early nineties( a desperate attempt to hide my age). There are a few things I realised being 21 (see how bad my attempt was) :P Cakes/ No Cakes  See I had spent my last 4 birthdays without a cake because I was in a zone that Cakes are just too main stream. But this year I realised I cannot afford to offend the BUDDAY GOD. Yes there is a BUDDAY GOD. Trust me He is ! ;) . So there was a slight hesitation about it cause I thought AM I TOO OLD FOR THIS ?  Anyway I ended up hogging the entire cylinder on my own :D and I am proud of it ! B| GOSH I AM OLD !     It hit me that dude I am in my “EARLY TWENTIES”. I am eligible for all sorts of government jobs and here I am in a dilemma that should french fries enter my gullet or is it time for Uncle Chips ! ...
